Vintage and Deadly | The Death of Marilyn Monroe
Hello lovelies and Happy Sunday.
Today is the start of Vintage and Deadly on this blog and I'm excited about it. And, to start off, why not, to get it underway than the death of one of my all time favourite people - the beautiful and talented actress ever to grace Old Hollywood...Marylin Monroe.
I adore her so much.
Someone I've always admired for years.
An amazing woman and actress, best known for roles as a Blonde Bombshell in movies like Some Like It Hot (1959) The Prince and the Showgirl (1955) and The Seven Year Itch (also 1955). From what I've watched on YouTube, I already knew she was going to be amazing. This has just made me fall in love with her even more.
So, Marilyn Monroe or Norma Jean Baker was born on June 1 1926 in Los Angeles California in The USA. She was active from 1945-1962 (the year of her death). She became one of the most iconic figures and is remembered for her winsome embodiment of the Hollywood sex symbol along with her tragic personal professional struggles within the film industry (information source from IMDB). That makes me so positive she would have done greater things but that's just my opinion. I just admire her even more.
She's also a major pop culture icon.
Her mother suffered from severe mental health problems.
She found herself in and out of orphanages and foster homes and fragility traced back to childhood years without any stability or security.
Married at 16 to James Dougherty was short lived.
Picked up modelling assignments and dropped from Columbia after she starred in Ladies of the Chorus (1948).
1953 - Appeared in films including Niagara, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How To Marry a Millionaire.
Sang Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend.
1954 - Married baseball player Joe DiMaggio on January 14 and divorced a year later in 1955.
Death:
Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her Brentwood home on August 5 1962 from a barbiturate overdose. There was a history of depression and suicide attempts. She passed away aged 36 years old.
